What is Respite Care?

Respite Care is a care option offered on a short-term basis that provides the opportunity for older people to take a break from their everyday routines. Those who are caring for a loved one full-time can use respite care to take scheduled breaks from their caregiving duties while a professional care team takes the heavy load for a while.

Someone who has recently had a fall, operation or illness will also greatly benefit from respite care. When someone is in the recovery stage, it often means they are unable to carry on with their daily routines without the help of others. Respite care can be agreed for a few weeks or months until that person is fully ready.

Residential Dementia Care

Residential Dementia Care provides assistance to those who require assistance with everyday duties such as bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, medication and mobility who are at the early stages of dementia. As we grow older, it is common to experience increased difficulty with daily tasks, especially with a long-term condition such as dementia. Our residential dementia care team is dedicated to providing exceptional person-centred care which helps residents to live a life they can enjoy.

Residents can treat our residence as their own home, making use of the many services and amenities offered to them while all household chores are taken care of. Our dementia care staff is available on a 24-hour basis to assist residents in living independently for as long as possible. Our goal is to ensure all health and well-being needs are met in a warm and inviting setting.

Specialist Dementia Care

Dementia is a cognitive condition that affects an individual’s memory, and ability to think critically and communicate with others. As the condition progresses, a person will require a higher level of dementia care, and we are able to provide exactly that. Those living with dementia can continue to live their lives to the fullest with the right level of dementia care and support, while staff support residents in retaining a sense of self and independence for as long as possible.

Our staff has undertaken extensive dementia training in order to deliver the best possible care and respect to each resident. Our experienced team work with each resident and their family members to devise an individual plan of care to meet their needs, wishes and lifestyle choices. The dementia care unit offers an array of activities and alternative therapies which help people with dementia feel safe and relaxed in their surroundings.
